Danielle DeSouza, MSc, PhD

VP of Research

Danielle is a neuroscientist and the Vice President of Research at Acacia. She completed her master’s and doctorate at the University of Toronto where she used MRI approaches to study brain connections and morphometry in individuals with traumatic brain injury and chronic pain. She continued her training at Stanford University in the Department of Neurology & Neurological Sciences where she became a junior faculty member. Her research focused on understanding structural and functional brain connectivity in chronic headache disorders.

Through collaborations with the Department of Psychiatry, she was introduced to transcranial magnetic stimulation and contributed to foundational clinical trials for depression and pain. Danielle is passionate about science to inform personalized treatment approaches for brain-based disorders and is excited to be on the forefront of this work with the Acacia team!
