PATIENT TESTIMONY

"Dr. Carreon is really good at explaining things. He is patient and respectful. I really like his mannerisms, like the way he looks around the room and you can just tell he’s deep in thought. And you know, it seems he really cares because he’s willing to change things up when he recognizes something may not be working. Not just any doctor would do that.”

Payment Options

Covering treatment costs can be an obstacle for many patients, so we offer several ways to pay for TMS therapy services.

We believe everyone should have access to better mental health treatment. Acacia’s staff also works with employers, insurance companies, and government officials to make these proven treatments more widely accessible.

Insurance Plans

TMS is covered by most insurance providers for depression. Acacia accepts most insurance plans and will work with you to determine if you are eligible.

Private Pay

Acacia has private pay options for all of our services, including TMS and Accelerated TMS. Please contact us to discuss our fees. Acacia accepts cash, check, and all major credit cards.

Financial Aid

Acacia is pleased to provide financial aid for those who would benefit from TMS but may not be eligible for insurance coverage, or do not have insurance. Please contact us for more information.

ACCEPTED INSURANCES

Standard TMS Therapy is covered by most insurance companies. If your insurance provider is not presently covering TMS, Acacia can help you negotiate with your insurance provider for reimbursement, on a case-by-case basis.

FAQ

  • TMS Therapy is FDA approved for the treatment of depression. It is well tolerated and has been proven to be safe in clinical trials. TMS is a non-invasive procedure that involves the use of magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain.

Side effects of TMS are usually mild and temporary. They may include scalp discomfort at the site of stimulation, lightheadedness, or headaches. These side effects typically resolve shortly after the TMS session.

  • After over two decades of extensive research and clinical trials, TMS Therapy was cleared by the FDA in 2008. TMS is approved in multiple countries, including Canada, the USA, Europe, Israel, and Australia.

  • You may feel a tapping sensation on your scalp, which is produced by the magnetic pulses being delivered to your brain. Some individuals describe it as a gentle knocking or fluttering feeling. The intensity of these sensations can vary from person to person, but they are generally mild and do not cause significant discomfort. Most people are able to adjust to the sensations after a few sessions.

  • Accelerated TMS is a revolutionary way of treating major depression. It’s a breakthrough treatment developed by in part by one of our Acacia Psychiatrists, Dr. Brandon Bentzley at Stanford University of Medicine.

He published a scientific article in the American Journal of Psychiatry on treating people with severe depression who had tried everything.

They delivered 5 days of Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy (SAINT) and 90% of the patients went into complete remission and felt entirely better from their depression [publication].

We are the most experienced private practice providers of Accelerated TMS in the Bay Area with similar results as Stanford.

  • Most people are suitable for TMS. There are very few people the treatment isn’t suitable for. Before starting treatment with Acacia Mental Health, our advisors and clinicians will confirm your eligibility
